Trophy taker drop away rests
I have been shooting the Trophy Taker drop away rests for about 5 years now and have used and continue to use the Original, the Shakey hunter, and the Pronghorn. Within my family we have a total of 9 of these rests in use on 9 different bows used for hunting, 3D and FITA shooting. I have found all these rests to be VERY efective and reliable, including the value priced SL series . I think the choice of launcher style is very important as we have found that there can be some fletch contact issues using the Shakey hunter configuration with large diameter arrows with high profile vanes, so for a FITA bow I would suggest the original launcher to solve this problem. I have found the ease of set-up to be no better or worse than many other drop-aways available today, setting up the timing of the drop is simply trial and error like any drop-away. The only issue I have ever had with these rests is the threads on the launcher arm (where it attaches to the attachment bar) seem a little soft. I took one apart to clean it and when re-assembling it the nyloc nut did not want to go back on smoothly and in fact it stripped the threads quite easily. Overall I would highly reccomend these rests, if your not a tinkerer like me and don’t plan on dis-assembling the rest you should have no problem and will get years of reliable service from them!
